This past holiday weekend was one of true celebration, since two Oblate brothers professed their perpetual vows. The Mass of Celebration occurred on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10 AM at the Immaculate Conception Memorial Chapel, located on the grounds of the Oblate School of Theology (OST) in San Antonio, Texas.

Bro. Felix Bwalya Nyambe, OMI of Zambia and Bro. Victor Manuel Patricio-Silva, OMI, of Acapulco, México, were overjoyed to profess their perpetual vows and were accompanied by scores of their fellow Oblates, friends, and family members from near and far. Fr. Jim Brobst, OMI, privileged us with his presence and celebrated the beautiful Mass, which was concelebrated by Fr. Art Flores, OMI, and Fr. Raul Salas, OMI. Fr. Art also delivered a touching homily, taking a moment to show appreciation to each of the families of both Bro. Felix and Bro. Victor.

After making their perpetual vows official, Fr. Brobst bestowed each of the brothers with their own Oblate crosses. Bro. Victor received the cross of the late Fr. Ed De Leon -a beloved San Antonio Oblate- and Bro. Felix was the recipient of the cross of late Fr. Dave Powell, an Oblate well-known throughout the U.S. provinces. After the reception of crosses, each of the brothers also received a medal of Virgin Mary for protection and a small green booklet, which contains the Oblate Constitution.

A beautiful reception followed at the Whitley Theological Center at OST, where the duo of fêted Oblates and guests alike enjoyed an afternoon of light refreshments, hors d’oeuvres, picture-taking, and merry conversation. Bro. Victor and Bro. Felix expressed their gratitude to the Oblates and to each of their families for all the support received throughout their formation so far, and both look forward to their upcoming ordinations with patience and joy!
