In America, an ambulance or fire truck is only a few minutes away in an emergency but when a disaster strikes in one of our isolated mission areas, there are no such services. What our missionaries need is a friend they can count upon in an emergency -- someone like you! That's why we formed the Mission of the Month Club."

Recent Mission of the Month Successes

Mission of the Month Club members helped build and renovate chapels, so that the poor will have a place of worship.

Unclean water is the leading cause of death among mission children under age five. Club members provide funds to drill water wells.

Food, Water, Medicines... and Hope
Help Now!

FOOD: During times of drought, poor harvest or natural disasters, Oblate missionaries provide emergency food distribution to the poor of our missions. In recent years during the drought in Africa, flooding in Bangladesh and the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines, our missionaries were instrumental in saving the lives of thousands of disaster victims.

WATER: Clean drinking water is truly a gift of life. In our missions in the Philippines, Mexico and Africa, many small and isolated communities do not have a constant source of drinking water. Water-borne diseases -- the #1 killer of children under age five -- can be prevented by drilling deep wells in each community.

MEDICINES: In our missions, Oblate-sponsored clinics are often the only source for emergency medical care for hundreds of miles. By providing inoculations for children, emergency services for injuries and health training to mission villagers, thousands of young children are saved each year.

HOPE: For over 160 years, the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate have served the "poorest of the poor" around the world. Today, more than 5,000 Priests and Brothers of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate continue to bring the Word of Our Lord to missions on all six continents.

By becoming a member, your monthly pledge of just $10 or $15 can provide our missionaries with a lifeline for emergency needs that otherwise could not be met.

When you become a Mission of the Month Club member, you'll receive three special gifts for your support:

A handsome OMI lapel pin that proclaims your commitment to the works of the Oblate Fathers and your membership in the Mission of the Month Club.

A Mission Rosary - truly significant because it is hand made, especially and exclusively for Oblate Missions by the native peoples in one of our mission fields. The different colored beads represent the five continents in which Oblate missionaries minister.

A Mission of the Month Club certificate, that "proclaims" your charity to the poor and neglected.
