A message to all our brothers and sisters affected by recent disasters…

As a member of the extended Oblate Mission’s family, you have been in my thoughts and prayers during the tragic storms which swept through the Texas gulf region, Florida, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Georgia, parts of Alabama and South Carolina; and the two massive earthquakes that shook southern Mexico. I pray that you and your family are beginning to recover from this ordeal and that you feel the supportive and healing presence of Jesus and our Mother Mary all around you.

As a faithful supporter and co-missionary with Oblate Missions, your donations have made a difference here in the United States and around the world. My Oblate brothers and our Oblate Missions community here in San Antonio are praying for your return to “normal everyday life” as soon as possible.

I will be celebrating special Masses in the coming weeks for the needs and intentions of all the victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria, and the Mexico earthquakes. The first Masses were celebrated on September 23rd and 30th, then on October 1st, and they will continue on October 8th and throughout the rest of the month.

At this time when our faith is being tested, please know that you, your family and your neighbors are foremost in my heart and mind.  As you have helped others, I want to be present in your time of need.  May God bless and keep you all the days of our lives.
