Eternal rest grant unto these Loved Ones, O Lord… – Oblate Missions

Eternal rest grant unto these Loved Ones, O Lord…

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.” Revelation 21:4

On this upcoming All Souls Day, November 2, I hope you will join me and the Missionary Oblates to honor the memory of your departed loved ones who now live in the presence of Our Lord and Our Blessed Mother. It is a special time of remembrance of all the times you shared together…

…and a time to pray that their souls rest in peace. I have arranged for two Novenas of Masses in two special locations that reflect our hopes of everlasting life:

  1. The first Novena Masses will begin in St. Peter’s Basilica, in Vatican City in Rome, and continue for nine consecutive days.
  2. A second Novena will start on All Souls Day, November 2, at Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto and Tepeyac de San Antonio, the spiritual center of the Missionary Oblates.

During both All Souls remembrances, your prayer for the eternal rest of your beloved departed will be present at the altar and lifted to heaven.

So that we can be joined in prayer during these events, I have a special gift for you…

Purple Ladder Rosary I would like to send you a beautiful purple-beaded “ladder” rosary, comprised of a double chain surrounding each bead – as if your arms were wrapped around all your loved ones who have passed from this world.  In the center piece of the rosary, Our Heavenly Mother is depicted who is revered by the Missionary Oblates and our many supporters.

During these uncertain times, many of us are searching for ways to make an impact on the world.  If your kind heart inspires you to send a gift of $15, $20, $25  – or whatever amount you can afford – you will allow Missionary Oblates to distribute food to the hungry, provide access to medical care for the sick and elderly, and introduce children, women and families to the healing, loving Good News of Jesus Christ.

Our founder, St. Eugene de Mazenod, established the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in 1816, inspired by the words of Jesus to His apostles: “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons.  Freely you have received; freely give.”  Matthew 10:8

When you support Oblate Missions, you are also fulfilling that calling to provide comfort and hope to those most in need.  What a beautiful way to honor your departed loved ones with a gift that will bring the healing love of Jesus to the poor and most abandoned.

To assist in your prayers, I encourage you to send the names of you or any loved ones in need of healing.  I will have their names lifted to Heaven at our monthly healing Mass held at our spiritual center, Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto and Tepeyac de San Antonio.   Prayer is our greatest weapon against stress, anxiety, fear and sadness, and praying often is important.  The more we pray, the closer we grow in our faith, nurturing a strong connection to Our Lord and Heavenly Mother.  It is through prayer that miracles occur, so we are encouraged to spend more time in prayer.

Please accept our gifts of prayer and the rosary.  As you join us in honoring your beloved departed during our All Souls Novenas, please remember this prayer for them:

“Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon them.  May they rest in peace, Amen.  And may their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.  Amen.”

In Jesus Christ and Mary Immaculate,
Fr. David P. Uribe, OMI
Oblate Director
