Oblate Seminarian Trivia – Oblate Missions

Oblate Seminarian Trivia

CORRECT ANSWER:
Calvary of Christ

The “Cavalry of Christ” was the common name of the Missionary Oblates who traveled on horseback in Texas and northern Mexico from 1849 (the founding of the mission) to 1904 (the creation of the Oblate Province). Some extend the title to include any Oblate who made pastoral visits on horseback before the automobile came into common use in southern Texas around 1914.

In our missions in Zambia, Bangladesh, Mexico, the Philippines, Haiti, and many parishes in the United States, many parishioners struggle to survive. Both young and old with receive critically needed aid and spiritual support through the ministries and missions of the Oblates.
