The founder of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, St. Eugene de Mazenod had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother of Jesus. This devotion is shared among our fellow Missionary Oblates as well as members of our Mazenodian-Oblate Family.
Known for her tender love and healing spirit, Our Heavenly Mother is often asked for her intercession on behalf of followers of Christ. I was blessed to travel to Lourdes, France, last year to visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes on her feast day, February 11. The beauty and grandeur of the Shrine along with the opportunity to be there with the more than 10,000 people in attendance was the greatest display of faith I have ever witnessed.
Our Heavenly Mother watches over all of us, keeping us close always. There is no greater source of communication and connection with Our Blessed Mother than praying the rosary. Throughout history, Our Lady has been known to appear to faithful believers of Christ, bringing words of wisdom and divine instructions to pray the rosary.
Your gifts have helped provide families around the world with desperately needed physical and spiritual assistance. Your gifts mean the world to the mission children and families we serve. Through your gifts, our Missionary Oblates reach out in compassion to care for God’s most neglected children.
Together, we have accomplished so much to improve the lives of the poor…but there is much more that needs to be done, and many more souls longing for salvation around the world.
If you are able to, please consider making an offering today to provide the resources to continue our work of bringing Christ’s consolation and hope to our sisters and brothers living in extreme poverty. They have so little compared to the blessings we experience here in America.
I have arranged for a special Mass to be celebrated on February 11, 20201 in your honor at the grotto in Lourdes, France, where Our Lady appeared to St. Bernadette. During my trip to Lourdes, France, last year I met Fr. Alexius Igbozurike, O.M.I., who has agreed to be our personal connection in Lourdes this year. At this Mass, you and your loved ones will be remembered, asking for the intercession of Our Heavenly Mother to have Our Lord reward your devotion.
Please join me in praying the rosary, knowing that your prayers will be given to Our Lord by His mother so you can have the abundant blessings for you and your loved ones. Please also be assured that you have a very special place in my heart and in the hearts and prayers of all the Missionary Oblates who serve the “poorest of the poor” around the world.
In Jesus Christ and Mary Immaculate,
Fr. David P. Uribe, OMI
Oblate Chaplain Director
